1. Send an email to metafrantic@hotmail.com with: - Name - Pen name/pseudonym (Specify whether to use Name or Pen Name in the printed version) - Age - Mail address (include country) - Email address Your name will be added to the list. You will receive an email when the notebook has been sent to you. 2. When you receive the book, send an email to metafrantic@hotmail.com confirming you've gotten it; this will help me keep track of where the book is. 3. Write your story: - Use the first available blank page in the book. - You only get to write on ONE SIDE of one page. - Write with a non-bleeding pen, like a ballpoint. - Write your Name (or pseudonym), Age and Country on the last line of your page BEFORE writing your story (This information will make story/author identification MUCH easier.) - You can prepare your story and even pre-write it before you receive the notebook. However, you must then copy it by hand into the book. Be sure that it will fit on one page (3.5" x 5.5") - If your native language is not English, and you want to write your story in your native language, you may do so. However, you must email me an English translation to go into the printed version. - The story can be any genre or combination of genres, but it must be ORIGINAL (that means no Fanfiction!). - Please keep the story relatively tame; no graphic descriptions of sex and/or violence. - Don’t title your story. The "Title" in the printed version will be your Name/Age/Country. - Don’t add extra lines and write really small! Use the number of lines provided. If your story is too long, cut it down. - If you make a mistake, cross it out. Mistakes happen, and most people will only see the transcribed version anyway.Do not use white-out! - Please give the ink time to dry before closing the notebook; this will prevent the ink from bleeding onto the facing page. Feel free to read the previous entries, but don’t waste time; you have only ONE day to write your story, and the book needs to be sent on as fast as possible. 4.When your story is finished: - If you know a local writer you want to pass the book to, make them email me their information first! This is absolutely imperative; I have to be able to track the book or it will get lost and all this work will be for nothing! Plus, they will want their information included in the printed version! Direct the person to follow these instructions. - If you don't know of anyone to pass the notebook to, email metafrantic@hotmail.com again. You will get a reply with the name and address of the next person on the list. Package the notebook (carefully please!) and mail it to them. And you're done! I will update the website and the Genre Challenge community with periodic reports on the notebook's progress. And please let any writers know about this; I'll be accepting new names for the list until it hits 192! (A Moleskine notebook has 192 pages.) If you have additional questions, email me or post your question on the GC Livejournal. |
