This is the Rules page. there has to be one.

the basic idea

On the first day of the month, a new Genre of Choice is posted on the front page of the site, and on the Genre Challenge Livejournal. You have that entire month to conceive of a story within that genre, write the story, get it proofread, edit it to your satisfaction, and post it online. Pretty simple, right?

story rules

The submission must be a complete story. If you expand the story later that's fine, but the submission must be a wholly inclusive story.

The submission must be at least 1000 words long. There is no set maximum.

Avoid mixing genres as much as possible! A little here and there is all right, but if the Genre of Choice is Western, you can't write a story set in the future where everyone rides mechanical horses and have laser guns instead of six-shooters.The point, after all, is to write specifically within the given genre, even if that takes you outside your comfort zone.

how to submit

You must submit your story by 11:59 pm local time on the final day of the month.

You need to post the story online. You can either do that at the Genre Challenge Livejournal, on your own website or Livejournal. At this time, genrechallenge.org does not host submissions on the website.

If you post your submission on your own website or Livejournal, post to the GC Livejournal with a link to your story.

If you post your submission to the GC Livejournal, put your story behind an lj cut! Stories not behind LJ cuts will be deleted to spare other members' Friends Lists, and the poster will be requested to resubmit.

submission format

Submissions should include the following in a Header:

Title
Genre (Month/Year)
Word Count
Rating
Warnings (if any)
Include In Anthology? (Y/N) (What is this?)
Preferred Author Name to be Used in Anthology

So it should look like this:

Word Count: 4596
Rating: PG-13
Warning(s): Mild profanity, lewd use of a scepter
Include In Anthology? (Y/N): Yes
Preferred Author Name to be Used in Anthology: Metafrantic (or real name, or pseudonym.)
